Hi there! I'm Rhys. I'm really just a big goofy kid. I grew up in Oklahoma, where the wind comes sweeping down the plains. Or sometimes barreling dangerously. I moved to Little Rock last year, after living in NY for almost twelve years. Interestingly enough, the only place I've ever actually been in a tornado was in Brooklyn, even though I spent 18 years of my life in Oklahoma. It's funny how life works. I also spent a lot of time in Little Rock growing up, so even though I'm not a native Arkansan, it's a place near and dear to my heart.
I like stories: hearing them, watching them, telling them. I'm a huge documentary junkie, and hope to make documentary films that truly make an impact in the world. I'm adopted. And I have amazing parents. I spend a lot of time thinking about inequality and injustice in our world, and how I can make a difference. I love animals. I should, since my dad is a veterinarian – it should be some kind of requirement for a vet's kid.
I'm excellent at:
Hitting the snooze for three hours. Being awesome. Taking photographs. Being a good person. Smiling. Anything musical. Forgetting to turn off the light in the garage. Loving my family and friends. Being compassionate. Cooking. Except for making rice. Throwing cozy dinner parties with excellent food. Petting kittehs. Buying dog sweaters. Googling things. Listening to songs on repeat.
I'm terrible at:
Making rice. Saying no to helping someone in need. Walking slowly. Twitter. Remembering all the things I'm terrible at.
Traveling. My family. Listening to loud music in the car. Anything Apple. Spring Awakening. Buffalo wings. Singing and playing guitar. Going on adventures. Kittehs. Lots and lots of kittehs. People watching. Fresh mozzarella. The good stuff, not that cheap wannabe fresh mozzarella – I've got standards. Skiing. Drinking lots of coffee and then being more productive than any human should ever be. My iPhone. A good pair of shoes. High fives. Laughing ridiculously loud.
